Five Fun Student Activities to Check Out at USA

Let’s face it: college can be tough. Studying, course-loads, and grades all add up to stressed-out students. USA knows this, so we provide our students with seriously awesome opportunities to blow off some steam and have fun. Check out some of the activities our students love the most:

OOzeball

Ever played volleyball in eight inches of mud? You can if you come to USA. OOzeball is one of the longest-running and most popular student organized fundraisers on campus. With more than 600 participants each year, OOzeball is an annual tradition loved and supported by students, faculty, staff, alumni and supporters of the University of South Alabama.

Rock Climbing Wall

Exercise doesn’t have to just be plodding along on the treadmill or hurling around weights. USA’s Student Recreation Center is home to a 35 foot tall and 65 foot wide rock wall. The best thing? You don’t need any experience — we’ve got instructors to help you!

Outdoor Adventures

Paddle a river, explore a cave, or camp out on the beach on one of our Outdoor Adventures. Trips are offered in the fall, spring, and summer. Stand-up paddleboard and whitewater rafting trips are just a few of the amazing opportunities we offer our students. Check out Student Recreation for more details.

Club Sports and Intramurals

You don't have to be a student athlete to play sports at South Alabama. Our intramural program offers flag football, soccer, cricket, rugby, ultimate frisbee and rock climbing, to name a few. South has specific fields dedicated to these intramural sports for students who want to participate in a little friendly competition.
