Career Advice
The first week of college is one of the most exciting times in a student’s life. If you choose to attend USA in the fall, you can expect a whirlwind week of fun events welcoming you to Jag Nation. From academic open houses to social events, you’ll get a full picture of how amazing student life is on South’s campus, and you’ll quickly feel connected to our university. Here are just a few of the amazing events we have planned for our Week of Welcome in August.
Move-In Day
The Saturday before classes start is the day residence halls open, and we have RAs and staff on hand to help you with everything. Meet your roommates, suitemates, and other residents, and celebrate the beginning of your college experience.
USA First Night
The fun continues into the evening with USA’s First Night, sponsored by Jaguar Productions. Enjoy giveaways, free food and swag, and a night to remember!
Class Picture
The Monday before classes begin, join the rest of your freshman class in the Mitchell Center for your class picture. Smile, you’ve made it!
Convocation
At Convocation, our President will greet the incoming class, and we will hear from an alum and a current student. This yearly event celebrates the beginning of a new academic year and allows us to connect to the academic community at South Alabama.
College Open Houses
After a post-Convocation lunch, each college within the university welcomes new students for Desserts with Deans. Here you’ll get to meet your deans, faculty and other current students. This is a great opportunity to ask specific questions about your majors and find important offices so that you’re prepared for your first day of classes.
Although this list barely scratches the surface, you see how excited we are to meet our new students. To learn more about the opportunities South offers our Jags, check out “Five Fun Student Activities to Check out at USA.”
